by the poet on how the poems were conceived.

THE EQUILIBRIST

He resuscitated
leaving us astonished
while he was balanced on the rope

He remained still
in the glowing square
he stood still in the air
that was tumbling into his clothes
that like his hair smelled of seawater

The equilibrist
paused for a while
holding his rod
and the time
found its way again
inside a wave of future
that was thought elsewhere.

A moment in a glowing square.
It was summertime.

ROOMS

Caught by the boredom
of your profile
I remembered to drink
drops of narcolepsy
from the warm room
wetted by your body

For some bread
I raised from you
so tightly tied
to my aching neck

Bright ribbons of noise
came then into
our wide open cage.

I was living in a cheap hotel.

ROOMS and THE EQUILIBRIST were both published
in the 'Omaggio alla cultura Francesco Iovine',
published by the 'Centro culturale La Conca - Roma'.
The published poets were selected with respect to
their personal effort in promoting culture during the
year 1996. Both the poems won awards in previous
competitions. Other poems and essays on poetry
of mine were published in the magazine 'La Vallisa',
published by 'La Vallisa, Bari, Italy'.
